These Malachite Elephant totems were made in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Elephant is considered a symbol of luck, strength, wisdom, solitude, intelligence and loyalty.

The designs seen in the Malachite are formed by microscopic layers of different sized crystals growing on top of each other. A copper ore mineral, Malachite is known to have been mined by Egyptians as early as 4000 B.C.
